Pet Maven ("Pet Maven," "we," "us," or "our") is a product of Aurelium Labs LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Pet Maven mobile app and website (together, the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. We built Pet Maven to be private by default — your pet's information belongs to you.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

Account details — your email address and, optionally, a display name when you create an account.
Pet profiles — information you enter about your pet, such as species, breed, age, weight, sex, medications, conditions, and an optional photo.
Health journal entries — vet visits, medications, activity, food changes, and observations you choose to log.
Waitlist sign-ups — if you join our pre-launch waitlist, we collect the email address you submit so we can notify you at launch.
Support messages — anything you send us when you contact support.

Information collected automatically

Usage and device data — app version, device type, operating system, and basic interaction events used to keep the Service reliable.
Approximate location — with your permission, a coarse location or ZIP code used only to surface product recalls relevant to your area. You can decline or change this at any time.
Diagnostics — crash logs and performance data to help us fix problems.

2. How we use your information

To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
To generate your pet's wellness score, insights, and personalized recommendations.
To match product-recall alerts to your pet's profile and area.
To send medication, appointment, and care reminders you set up.
To sync your pet profiles and journal across your devices when you sign in.
To respond to your support requests and send important account notices.
To detect, prevent, and address security or technical issues.

3. AI & automated processing

Pet Maven uses automated and AI systems to turn your pet's profile and inputs into wellness scores, breed-specific insights, and product recommendations. We send only the data needed to perform these tasks. We do not sell your content, and we do not use your private pet data to train third-party advertising models.

4. Recall data

Recall alerts are based on publicly available data, including U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) pet food and product recall information. We match this data against your pet's profile and area to surface alerts that may be relevant to you. Recall matching is provided for your awareness and is not a substitute for official notices from manufacturers or regulators.

5. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited cases:

Service providers — trusted vendors (for example, cloud hosting and AI processing) who handle data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
At your direction — when you choose to share information, such as exporting a journal to share with your veterinarian.
Legal reasons — when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

6. Your choices and rights

Private by default — your pet's data is yours and is not public.
Export — you can export your pet's profile and health journal at any time.
Access & deletion — you can request a copy of your data or delete your account, which removes your content from our systems.
Location — you can grant or revoke location access in your device settings.
Marketing — you can opt out of non-essential emails, including waitlist messages, at any time.

7. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your content within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your information and continuously improve our practices.

9. Not veterinary advice

Important: Pet Maven provides wellness information and organization tools for pet owners. It is not a veterinary service and does not provide diagnosis or treatment. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for medical decisions, and seek emergency care when your pet needs it.

10. Children's privacy

Pet Maven is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

11. International users

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place for such transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version.
